The requirements for a major in Asian Cultures & Languages-Tamil are (full details):
24 semester hours including at least 21 hours of upper-division coursework:
- 9 hours upper-division Tamil
- 15 hours (including 12 upper-division) additional Asian Studies coursework related to South Asia, which may include 3 hours of upper-division coursework in Bengali, Malayalam, Tamil, or Sanskrit. See the Area List page for a list of approved courses for this requirement.
A minor in Tamil is also available to students. The simple requirements for the Tamil minor are: 15 semester credits of Tamil coursework which must include at least 3 hours upper-division coursework.
